Gear that I use myself or know a lot about. This is the stuff that turns your hobby into an obsession with cool toys!
This was my first bow. It's great for beginners but still rocks for someone more advanced. Well made and flexible for someone starting out. You can get limbs from 25-60# and can switch them out as you need to.
This is my Go-To bow for anyone starting out traditional.
Big Shot Glove by American Leathers
We went through 2 gloves in my first 3 months shooting. (Yes, I shoot a LOT) but it wasn't until Joe from Wild Rose told me about the Big Shot that I found a glove that lasts. It may look a bit pricy at first but if you shoot a lot, this glove will save you a ton in the long run. I've had mine about a year now and it's still rocking!
You NEED a stringer for your bow.
Let me repeat... You NEED a stringer for you bow.
Don't go macho and try to string it "step through" or "Push-pull" method. I tried it and popped a rib out. It never healed quit right. Just get a stringer and do it right. They are cheap and easy to use!
Custom Hungarian Horse Bows by Seven Meadows
These are a blast. Fun to use, get a ton of attention and you'll become a better archer if you can shoot one.
When you talk to them, tell them you saw Ely's site. They are friends and I own a Mongolian myself. I LOVE it!
By the way, contrary to popular belief, you don't have to have a horse to shoot one!
Custom Made Arrows by Wild Rose Archery
Really want to take it to the next level and get some custom wood arrows made? Joe's your guy. He makes arrows for SCA kings and they love them!
Mine are from him and everyone is impressed with how great they look.
(FYI... get bright colors. Even if they don't look as cool as those deep purple and black arrows you want. You'll thank me later!)
Become The Arrow DVD by Byron Ferguson
The Book is great. The DVD is even better! I learned a ton from this once I picked it up. Bet I've watched it at least 6 times.
